Freezing Rain Coats Roads

Freezing rain covered roads early Friday morning catching drivers by surprise.

I-5 southbound was closed at Capitol Highway because of a crash involving nearly 50 vehicles. There were minor injuries.

I-84 is icy in the Columbia River Gorge. There were several wrecks including a semi that ran off the freeway.

A semi ran off the freeway and firefighters had to use a rope system to rescue the driver and passenger. they had minor injuries.

Temperatures are expected to warm Friday morning and the ice will melt. Rain is forecast Friday afternoon.
