The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office is investigating human trafficking following a pursuit that began in Wilsonville and eventually ended in a crash in Tualatin.
At about 4:30 a.m. on Friday, deputies with Wilsonville Police were investigating a case of prostitution. When the investigators attempted to stop the suspect vehicle the vehicle drove off. Deputies could see that there was at least one female victim in the car, so they pursued the vehicle. Eventually the suspect vehicle struck another vehicle not involved in the pursuit, so the pursuit was terminated. The vehicle was found in Tualatin on Nyberg Road and Nyberg Lane. The vehicle had become suspended in a tree.
A Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office canine team came to the scene and the suspect was located and taken into custody. The two female occupants were rescued from the car and were taken to the hospital where they received medical treatment. One of those females has been admitted to the hospital with non-life threatening back injuries. The other has since been released. In addition to medical care, the two received advocacy support of Safety Compass of Oregon.
Detectives with Clackamas County Sheriff have initiated a human trafficking investigation.
Units from Washington County Sheriff, Tualatin Police, Lake Oswego Police, and Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue participated in the response and investigation.
Following an investigation, deputies arrested Roman Culver, age 18, of Covington, Washington. He is currently undergoing medical treatment at a local hospital for a medical condition not related to this incident. After the completion of his treatment he will be booked into the Clackamas County Jail on charges of Eluding Police, Assault and Possession of Methamphetamine.
