Watermelon Shatters Back Window

On June 9, 2017, around 12:54 a.m., an unknown suspect threw a watermelon from a moving vehicle, causing extensive damage to a parked vehicle near the 14700 block of Glen Oak Rd. Police believe the watermelon was intentionally thrown from the moving vehicle at the parked vehicle, but police do not have any information at this time to believe the victim was intentionally targeted.

The watermelon was thrown at the back of the car, denting the rear hatch of the vehicle and breaking the rear window. The force caused the watermelon to explode and also damaged the interior of the vehicle.

A neighbor's security camera caught the suspect vehicle fleeing the scene at a high rate of speed. Impact can be heard on the video but not seen since victim's vehicle is mostly out of view, far left side of video. The suspect vehicle was last seen headed westbound on Glen Oak Rd. towards Hwy 213.

The Oregon City Police Department is seeking the public's assistance in identifying the suspects and associated suspect vehicle. Anyone who might have information about the criminal mischief or has information about either the suspects or the suspect vehicle are encouraged to call the Oregon City Tip Line at 503-496-1616.
