On Monday, July 17, 2017 the Keizer Police Department confirmed with several local news media organizations we had received a missing person report and were actively conducting an investigation into the matter. The missing person was identified as 26-year old Cynthia Martinez of Woodburn, Oregon. Cynthia’s mother, Angelica Castillo, came to the Keizer Police Department at 1:52 a.m. on July 17th and filed a missing person report on her daughter. Ms. Castillo told the investigating officer Cynthia Martinez was last seen leaving the Tequila Nights Bar & Grill located at 3393 River Road North in Keizer at about 2:35 a.m. on Sunday, July 16th. We confirmed the Keizer Police Department was actively trying to locate Cynthia Martinez. Several news media organizations reported this information in the following days.
Over three weeks have passed since Cynthia Martinez was reported missing and she has not been seen or heard from since. The Keizer Police Department is releasing additional information about the ongoing investigation of Cynthia Martinez’ disappearance and are asking for assistance from the public.
Cynthia Martinez was last seen at approximately 2:35 a.m. on Sunday, July 16th. She had attended a birthday party in the Woodburn area Saturday evening, July 15th, and then went to the Tequila Nights Bar & Grill in Keizer arriving at about 12:30 a.m. on Sunday, July 16th. Cynthia was last seen leaving Tequila Nights Bar & Grill with two Hispanic males approximately two hours later at about 2:35 a.m. Cynthia and the two Hispanic males were observed leaving the bar in a blue 2004 Honda Odyssey minivan. The minivan has since been located by investigators. A photograph of the minivan is included with this media release. If anyone recognizes the vehicle they are encouraged to contact the Keizer Police Department as it may provide information helpful to the ongoing investigation.
Investigators have identified both Hispanic men seen leaving the bar with Cynthia Martinez. One of them, 30-year old Jaime Alvarez-Olivera, is a person of interest in Cynthia Martinez’s disappearance. Jaime Alvarez-Olivera was last thought to reside in the Woodburn area, however investigators have not been able to determine exactly where he resided or with whom prior to July 16th. Additionally, Jaime Alvarez-Olivera was last known to be employed locally as a laborer who harvested berries. Identifying his residence or individuals he lived or worked with, or who may have known or associated with him could be very important to the ongoing investigation. Anyone who believes they may have information about where he lived, whom he lived or associated with, or whom he may have worked with is asked to contact the Keizer Police Department.
Jaime Alvarez-Olivera is believed to have left the Marion County area on Sunday, July 16th, a short time after Cynthia Martinez was last seen with him. He has not been located and his whereabouts are unknown. Anyone having any information as to the whereabouts of Jaime Alvarez-Olivera or where he may have gone are asked to contact the Keizer Police Department immediately with this information.
The Keizer Police Department has been working tirelessly on this investigation since the day it was initially reported. We have devoted over a thousand investigative hours to this investigation and are being assisted by members of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (F.B.I.), the Oregon Department of Justice, the Marion County District Attorney’s Office, and other local law enforcement agencies in both Marion and adjoining counties.

Cynthia Martinez is the mother of four young children and she has family and friends who are very concerned about her. We would like to find Cynthia and give her family answers as to what happened to her.
