Burglar Steals Camera That Leads To Arrest

The Yamhill County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man who’s accused of burglarizing the Our Lady of Guadalupe Trappist Abbey north of Lafayette.

The burglary occurred Monday evening and the suspect and his vehicle were caught on video and audio surveillance.

In the process of the burglary, the suspect stole a video camera that also recorded his image.

Based on prior contacts, Deputy Stephanie Sulak recognized the male in the video as 25-year-old Brent Adam Cordie of rural Carlton.

Later in the day, Deputy Sulak spotted Cordie driving in the City of McMinnville.  She initiated a traffic stop and took him into custody without incident.

Cordie was lodged in the Yamhill County Correctional Facility on charges of Burglary, Theft, Criminal Mischief and Criminal Trespass.  He was also charged with Possession of Methamphetamine after drug paraphernalia was located in his vehicle.

Cordie is currently being held on $515,000 bail.
