Travelers on southbound Interstate 205 in Vancouver should plan ahead for a full closure of the highway Thursday night.

A semi-truck was traveling southbound on I-205 near the Salmon Creek Interchange when it rolled over into the left shoulder and landed facing in the wrong direction.

To remove the overturned semi, Washington State Department of Transportation maintenance crews will need to close all southbound lanes of I-205 between the I-205/Interstate 5 split and the Salmon Creek interchange. During the closure, travelers will be detoured to southbound I-5.

Closure details

  • Beginning at 10 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 27 through the morning of Friday, Dec. 28, all southbound lanes of I-205 will close at the I-205/I-5 split. All lanes of southbound I-205 should be reopen in time for the morning commute.
  • Note: Travelers should watch for advanced signs detouring them to southbound I-5. All lanes of southbound I-205 will remain open south of Salmon Creek, including the NE 134th Street on-ramp to southbound I-205.

To reduce the impact to travelers, the closure will be done overnight, when traffic volumes are lower.
