Masked Suspects Carjack Woman's Vehicle

Police Investigation

Portland Police are trying to identify two suspects in an armed carjacking Wednesday morning.

Officers were called to the area of Southeast Clinton Street and 38th Avenue.

They contacted the woman who was not injured. She said she was approached by two white men who were wearing ski masks. One of the suspects was armed with a handgun. The suspects took some of the victim's personal property, including keys to her vehicle. The suspects left in the victim's car, a Red 2002 Mazda Protege. Officers conducted an area check, but did not locate the vehicle.

At 7:02 A.M., a call came in from a juvenile female who attends Franklin High School. The juvenile female reported two subjects pulled up to her near Southeast 51st Avenue and Woodward Street, displayed a handgun, and demanded her purse. The suspects were described as two white males, in their 20's, wearing all dark clothing. The juvenile victim ran to the school and the suspects did not get any of this victim's property. The juvenile victim was not injured.

Richmond Elementary School was placed on temporary lock out as a precaution. School resource officers have responded to the area and patrol officers are providing extra patrol. The lockout has been lifted.

During an area check, officers located the stolen Mazda Protege involved in the first robbery incident. One of the vehicle's license plates is still missing. The plate is Oregon-952BDR. If anyone sees this license plate displayed on a vehicle, they are urged to call 911. The red Mazda was recovered by officers.
