The former Sonics are just 3 wins away from an NBA title.  Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook outscored the Heat all by themselves in the deciding 4th quarter in Oklahoma City's 105-94 win in Game One of the NBA Finals.  I still think Miami's Finals' experience will help the Heat win the series.  (Hope I'm wrong... I would much prefer that KD gets a ring rather than LeBron)

The Charlotte Bobcats are getting close to naming their new head coach. The three finalists are said to be Jerry Sloan, Brian Shaw, and Quin Snyder.  Sloan has already met with owner Michael Jordan.  Shaw and Snyder will be with Jordan this week.   It looks like ex-Blazers coach Nate McMillan has been eliminated from consideration in Charlotte.

OSU outfielder Michael Conforto has been named the national Freshman Hitter of the Year by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.  Conforto had received the same honor from Louisville Slugger and Collegiate Baseball.  Conforto ended the year batting .349 with 13 HR and 76 RBI.

Beaver fans, don't forget tonight's event at The Foundry at Oswego Pointe.  It's the Portland stop on the 2012 Beaver Nation Road Show.  Coaches Mike Riley, Craig Robinson, and Scott Rueck will be on hand to talk about their teams and the prospects for next season.

And head to my sports podcast page here on 1190kex.com to listen to the interview I conducted with author Jim Gullo.  The McMinnville resident wrote "TRADING MANNY" and tells of the moment he realized steroids were ruining baseball for his young son. Gullo set out on a quest to try to help his son
retain his love of the game.
