Thought you might enjoy a special treat for the season: Kitty Litter Cake - quite tasty (believe it or not!) and VERY realistic. Someone sent me the recipe last year and I finally got to try it out. I've included it below. Enjoy! (purr purr!) -- RuninonMT
Kitty Litter Cake Ingredients:
1 box spice or German Chocolate Cake mix
1 box white cake mix
1 package white sandwich cookies
1 large package vanilla instant pudding mix
a few drops green food coloring
12 small tootsie rolls
1 NEW cat litter box
1 NEW cat litter pooper scooper
1.
Prepare and bake cake mixes, according to directions on box in 9x13 pans. Prepare pudding and chill. Crumble cookies in small batches in blender or food processor. Add a few drops of green food coloring to 1 cup of cookie crumbs. Mix well with a fork or shake in a jar. Set aside.
2.
When cakes are at room temperature, crumble them into a large bowl. Toss with half of the remaining cookie crumbs and enough pudding to make the mixture MOIST but NOT SOGGY. Pour mixture into cat litter box, and separate clumps with a fork so it all looks crumbly.
3.
Unwrap 3 tootsie rolls and heat in a microwave about 10 seconds OR LESS until soft and pliable. Shape the blunt ends into slightly curved points. Bury the rolls decoratively in the cake mixture. Repeat with 3 more rolls. Sprinkle the remaining white cookie crumbs over the mixture, then scatter green crumbs lightly over the top.
4.
Heat the remaining tootsie rolls as in #3 and roll them in the crumbs and arrange them artfully across the top of the cake. Place the litter box on a sheet of newspaper and serve with scooper. Enjoy! (this cake is actually quite tasty, especially if served with tropical sherbert)
