| A note from Scott:
Hey Friends,
My New Year’s holiday didn’t quite go the way I’d planned.
On Sunday, December 28th, I went to the hospital with extreme abdominal pain and the next thing I knew; I was having surgery for colon cancer!
The first few days have been a little rough and I look forward to recuperating at home. After some healing time, my doctors tell me I’ll need chemotherapy.
As I regain my strength, I look forward to getting back on the radio. I hope to be doing sportscasts from my home studio in the near future.
Thanks for your prayers and well wishes!
Talk to you soon!
Scott |
Dear Scott,
As someone who has had the chance to know you, I can say with certainty that you're one of the good ones. You're the kind of person that everybody likes, always charming and nice to everyone. It would be tempting to praise you for maintaining a positive attitude, and you have, but somehow that wouldn't seem fair. I've never seen any evidence of it, but even If you did feel occasionally scared or bitter, I think that's fully understandable. You're still a great guy and nothing could ever change that. My wife and I will pray for your full recovery.
Mark
Thanks, Roger
Just a note to let you know how much I've been thinking of you lately. I haven't seen or talked to you for years but I'll never forget our days as friendly competitors in the world of local sports televison.
I was shocked when I first heard the news and then I saw the segment on AM Northwest and was compelled to write.
Scott, you're in my thoughts daily and I KNOW you will win this battle. Please let me know if there's anything I can do to help out in the future.
Steve Arena
Hi Bud, By all the posts on this site alone the energy here will speed your recovery quickly and totally. Hang in there I'll touch base later. Russ
Good luck as you enter the "Wide World of Chemo"! And if you do have a few side effects--think of this: you are on radio, not TV, so your listeners won't know it if you look less than your normal chipper self! But if you are on air somewhere, just borrow makeup from Linnman.....
Best to you!
Paula
Thanks for your continued openness with your fans and yes you were right Pittsburgh won, but what a game and the Cardinals played their hearts out. They almost made it.
Hang in there as you begin your Chemo and so glad you are getting a Port, it will make it much easier on your veins.
May you be blessed as you continue to fight this disease, your positive attitude and desire to be well is a major tool in this fight.
Will look forward to hearing your voice again. You're the best!!!!
Diane
Have been watching and listening to you for lots of years...Although we are not "BEAVS" still like you a bunch...!! Know this Chemo thing is rough but you can do it!!! Hang in there...Be listening to you soon. Our thoughts and prayers are with you... Blessing.....
Its good to here that you are confident with your doctor.Thats very important to recovery, mentally and physically. I am thankful to say I'm 11 years and still counting to be free from that nasty disease.. After losing three of my friends, in about as many years , you know what was going on in my head when I was diagnosed. Not long after my surgery an recovery, I found out I was going to be a GRANDMA for the first time. I want to believe that the powers that be, kept me here for just that reason.I dont know for sure if you are a grandpa or not, but this has been the best 11 years. My grandson has completely turned my life around! At 57, I feel young again! Maybe something special is waiting for you in your future too! Hold on,be tough, and just say no to this dam- thing!
god bless you and your family hope to here you again soon on the radio!
marty
I helped her move and she had a knot on her neck. Her husband had been laid off there from Freighline when they were
closing.
To make a very long envolved story short. I got on line and sent
a prayer request out to a little prayer line I had online. Within weeks I was hearing from prayer groups all over the country who had my daughter on their prayer chain. People I never heard of.
Rhonda, my daughter turned 37 in Feb. last year while doing chemo. She has 4 small children whom I stayed with and seen her thru the chem.
Thanks be to Jesus, she was told in May she is cancer free.
Nov they took another scan checked her out and she is 9 mos. cancer free. Thanks be to Jesus.
I share that with you to tell you that I am sending your name out to this little prayer chain and to let you know that God gives
the doctors the knowledge they have, and I thank Him for that,
the healing for that alone comes from the Maker.
We will be trusting and believing God for you healing and a very
quick recovery.
God Bless You
I always enjoyed listening to KEX when I was there. Before I re-
tired I worked at Legacy and listened all day in my courier car.
Be Blessed.
Doris
Just want to let you know that I miss the most smoothest voice in sports broadcasting. I can not wait until you are back on the air. Thanks for all your hard work and you will be in my prayers.
You are terrific, pls know that you have a lot of radio friends out here in the Couve and PDX who are thinking of you and sending you all the well wishes you need!
Stay positive and kick this quick !
PDX M
A speedy and quick recovery. Wishing you the best.
When you think you're not strong enough, just look at all you've done in the past and know that you can do this, too. Remember that your main job right now is to concentrate on your getting healthy and strong and know that when you get through this, that, everything else will fall into place.
We love you and are out here rooting for you and your team!

Remember The Portland Trail Blazers
In the 1976-77 campaign, the Blazers posted their first winning record, going 49-33 under the leadership of Ramsay
The team—Walton at center, Lucas and Lloyd Neal at forward, and Dave Twardzik and Lionel Hollins at guard—made the playoffs for the first time. The Blazers won the NBA championship in their first time in the playoffs. After defeating the Chicago Bulls (who were a Western Conference team at the time) and the Denver Nuggets (a surviving ABA team) in the early rounds, the Blazers defeated the favored Los Angeles Lakers, led by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, in four straight games. They then went on to defeat the Philadelphia 76ers 4-2 for the championship. Wow what a time if they can Win this
You Also Can Beat the Battles Set before you,
greater is he that is in you,
than he that is in the world John 4;4

We are keeping you in our prayers and looking forward to hearing your voice & sports reports soon. We are missing you.
I just returned from marching in the Inaugeral parade and it was very cold. The Get a Life Marchng Band was so far back that it got dark and the local channels cut before we marched. Go to the Get a Life Marching Band site and you can see more about this all adult band that represented Oregon.
Wishing you the very best and a speedy recovery.

We miss you a lot and look forward to hearing you on the radio soon. God bless.
If anyone can beat this thing I know YOU can!
I'm pulling for ya! Pat
Know that we are thinking of you and your family at this tough time.
Scott: Many of us are there with you - I hope you will feel the support! I am now one year cancer free! My prayer for you will be that your recovery will move along smoothly & you will be cancer free this time next year.. C.C.
One of my greatest pleasures of 2008 was being your shadow at a Beaver's game last May. I thanked you then and I thank you again now. You're a true gentlemen and a magnificent representative of KEX.
I certainly hope that your bosses and co-workers know what a true treasure and consummate professional you are to the morning team.
As you beat this cancer back, you have the support of multitudes of people that are there to fight with you and encourage you as you heal and beat this thing.
Through it all you have your friends, both close and from afar, to wish you the best and to offer you support, encouragemant and to join you in steadfast determination that if there is anything we can do...just ask.
I consider my wife, my sister and I very fortunate to have spent that day in your company and as a result, I consider myself privileged to call you my friend.
Heal fast and may God Bless!!!
mb
Remember this is only a setback and we look forward to your return.
Best Wishes
We are KEX listeners and we wanted you to know that you have been missed and our prayers are with you during this difficult time. Keep up the postivie attitude and we look forward to hearing you on the air soon.
Just learned of your setback by reading Kerry Eggers' column in the Tribune.
As our paths crossed many times on various sports beats, I was always glad to see you. You are a first class gentleman.
Good luck. You will have a boatload of people pulling for you.
Bill Mulflur
Please know that you are missed by me and all my friends who enjoy your radio life. My prayer for you is that you will heal and feel better soon. I can't wait to hear you back at work. One "Grandma" caution, however: If a wave of ambition hits, sit down quickly it will pass.
Gert W
I am sorry to hear that you are ill. I will gather a group of friends to include you in our prayers.
You are going to pull through this. Stay strong and confident. I miss hearing your sports reports and your banter with Paul and the team in the mornings on my drive to work. I look forward to your return.
God Bless,

We are all keeping you and your family in our prayers and we are thinking of you all.
I do have some news to share. While my skills are not quite considered athletic, I am a baton twirler in 2 all adult marching bands. "Get a Life Marchng Band received word about Jan 2 that we had been accepted and we will be seen in Washington DC on Jan 20. We are going to be at the very end of the parade (what is wrong with this picture? ) so keep an eye out for us. As Captain, I have been scrambleing to get 10 twirlers ready to go. We were forced to cut 6 twirlers who were ready and wanting to go. It was hard. Anyway, check out the big parade led by Obama and family.

The deep freeze of the midwest.
To report we were shocked is an understatement to say the least.
Sharon has kept us appraised of your situation, and with the prayers of family & friends, it is more than good news to hear that you are on the mend.
Being at home now, in the care of loving family & friends, you should make rapid progress, but let nature do it's thing. You pay the Dr a lot, so you might as well take his advise.
Our daily prayers will continue so long as you are in need.
We will try to keep in touch.
All our love &
get well wishes too,
from Tony & Linda-lou
Take care.

Thank God that His mercies are new every morning!!! May this new year bring a new you with it. I pray for the renewing of strength for your body, your spirit, will, and emotions. I look forward to the good report of your progress.
Sincerely,
Lisa
I'm sorry to hear about your health problems, but I hope it was discovered in time for you to have a full recovery. I'm living in Arizona now--a long way from the old KGW-TV days.
All the best to you.
No kidding, my favorite part of listening to KEX in the morning is when someone makes you laugh out loud. You have the most infectious fun laugh in radio and it always make me chuckle and smile. I always meant to email Paul Lindman and tell him he has a new task - to crack you up laughing at least once each morning just to make my day. I still have lots of your fun laughs in my head, especially when they first kidded you about living on a farm. But I have just enough to keep me going for about the length of chemo treatment. So I look forward to your healthy happy return to radio.
Last February (2008) my husband was diagnosed with Rectal Cancer at first they said Stage 3 but since treatment, chemo, radiation surgery at St. V in Sept 30 by the best (Dr. C.) and final reconnect surgery 12/30. They got it all and he is now a Stage 2.
1/20 he will be headed for more chemo therapy (preventative). He has been through treatment, doing great and was back to work today.
I know you will do great and be back on the air shortly. I can't wait for that day. Our prayers and thoughts are with you. Our prayers and thoughts are also with your "team". Family, friends and co-workers make up that team. They are in your corner and a very important part of your healing.
I wish you nothing but the best in your recovery. My sister is terminal with her Crones Disease and every day is a battle for her. She is only 31 and they give her a year tops. I hope they caught your cancer in time so the chemo will take care of it. Life is strange in the way it deals us all these curve balls. I hope your family is ok and that you have a speedy recovery. Take care and I wish you the best of luck!!
Thank you,
Tony Gonzalez
attitude about the battle ahead. My wife is a breast cancer

We will add you to our prayer list. God is the great physician
and we will call on Him to be with you through this ordeal.
God Bless!
We've been loyal listeners and were shocked to hear of your holiday trip to the hospital and cancer diagnosis. We are cancer survivors and pray for your continued recovery and successful chemotherapy to reach the "no evidence of cancer" stage. Your great attitude and all the good thoughts and prayers favor your soon return to better health and being back on-air sharing your great sports reports. Our blessings to you and your family as you support each other through this process. Stan and Claire
Cancer is a disease that angers me and wants me to fight not only for myself but for family, friends and to those like you who are given the report.
You are loved, appreciated and above all needed to keep this world the positive place it is.

Having experienced cancer up close and personal, I know that no two days are the same. Encouraging and inspiring words like the ones I've read here are so important to providing hope.
All my best to you and your family as you face the challenge of your life. May faith, healing, and rest be yours during this difficult time. We, your fans, await your triumphant return.

Praying for a speedy recovery.
We were shocked to hear about your situation, but know you will get thru this and be back with us soon.
In our opinion there are three keys:
Prayer - Many, many of us are praying for you
Attitude - No doubt your positive attitude is there
Medical - Of course you have the best
We know we'll be hearing you "on the air" again soon!
Warm regards.
Continuous Best Wishes and prayers for you and your family during this time of inconvience. I am not interested in the sports portions of the News, but through my listening to KEX, I appreciate how you make things fun and interesting. You are truely a grifted man that is not finsihed with His work on earth. God is with you and find comfort in Him and your family. Keep the great attitude you have.
Blessings, Bill
I hope you get better soon!
Looking forward to your next broadcast.

P.S. Just remember, God's got your back.
That's what I look forward to hearing when you return to the air. My mom just had her 2nd treatment Monday, she was diagnosed in September of lung cancer. Praise the Lord for a blood clot that ended up drawing attention to the cancer early.
As with you, sounds like this was found early. While I'm so very very sorry for you going through all of this, Sounds like a blessing you went into the hospital, and it went fast, not a lot of time to stop and think.
You and your family are in my family's prayers, I hope and pray for strength for you all. You will pull through.
Looking forward to your laugh, and upbeat attitude, and sports news from Scott Linn the only way it should be.
Thank you for being you. Hang in there, find strength in the Lord, I bet you are surpised to see the prayers being answered every day. Iknow my family can see them daily with my mom.
Love ya man. Kristi
Fight this.............its beatable, I will pray for you as will all the fans of KEX.

Wishing you a speedy recovery. Miss hearing you on the radio but know it won't be long until you are back in full force!
Keeping you in our prayers.
I moved back to Wisconsin in 2003, so I don't hear you regularly anymore. I enjoyed watching you on television and hearing you on the radio in my twenty years in Oregon. You truly have great talent and I hope you can return to the air soon
Scott,
Think of the cancer as USC and you as OSU. Remember, it’s a home game and you CAN beat it.
Good luck and we all look forward to hearing your voice soon.

Sorry to hear about your situation and hope that you will be able to go home soon. It is much nicer to recuperate at home. I went through prostate cancer surgery this summer, so I can empathize to some degree. Will be looking forward to hearing your voice on the radio again. Will be praying for you.
It is given by God,
His plan is not known to us, and his ways have no way to be understood by us.
The way that we think, is set apart, until we seek the words of God,
Turn to God, and rest and know that he is in controll.
Our prayers are for God's will to be done,
LOVE is what we have.

With much prayer, surgery, massive radiation treatments and support of family and friends, he is still in remission. You are in our hearts & prayers too. I am so glad to be living in a time where we have such wonderful medical help and it gets better all the time!
God bless you,

heres to hoping that they get it all. My mother, (who was 86 at the time of her surgery), underwent surgery for colin cancer and the brilliant surgeons at Provedence Hospital in Portland, got it all and she is now 89 and doing fine and is cancer free. Don't give up hope, trust in God and we will all be looking forward to hearing you again on KEX.
Get well soon,
loyal listener
You don't probably remember me, but I photographed your family at a prominent Portrait Studio in Beaverton years ago. I have always enjoyed your gift as a sportscaster and radio announcer and your encouraging smile.
My families prayers are with you as our God is so awesome. Our hope is in him. He is so good.
We wish you a speedy recovery and complete healing. Looking forward to hearing your voice back on the radio!

I know what it is like to be felled with a sudden attack of a disease. I was attacked by Nacrotizing Fastiitus called," the skin eating disease," a rare strep infection, this last August. I am still getting my strength back.
It was a minute to minute battle for 8 days as the sergeons fought for my life. I am told that 95% of people that have the disease don't make it and the extent of my disease I am considered a miracle.
I know that this is grim and you are feeling grim so I will get to my point.
When I became cogent at the end of the battle I was struck with the impression that People Were Praying for Me. I hadn't been alone when I was walking through the valley. Other brothers and sisters had been surrounding me with the power of their prayers.
You are not alone. Others are praying for you. Please know that you will gain strength from our prayers. Take this knowledge and let this blanket surround you. Be encouraged when you are feeling like crap WE are there with you.
Live in Cod's strength.

We miss you!
I want you to know that my father-in-law had a similar situation in 2007. One year after a good colonoscopy he was rushed to the hospital with the same diagnosis and surgery.
He is in his mid-seventies, has had chemo, and is doing just great. A few years before, he had had a slight stroke and prostate cancer, so he wasn't in the best shape to begin with. If he can do it, you can too!
Praying for your full recovery and return to the air soon.
I WAS TOLD WEDNESDAY THAT ITS ALL GONE. IT CAN BE TREATED AND I HOPE YOURS IS TOO.
ALL MY BEST WISHES FOR THE COMING NEW YEAR.
Hi Scott,
Even though I'm not a sports fan I have your radio station on every morning while getting ready for work and to listen to Rush on my days off, I am so sorry to hear about your cancer. I pray for a speedy recovery and look forward to your being on air again.
I just want to tell you my Prayers are with you.
God does awnser our Prayers, I Pray for you to be healed and have a fast recovery.
Like so many other of your fans was shocked to hear of your sudden illness. But you are the epitomy of positive energy and that is more than half the battle. Along with all the well wishes and prayers on your behalf you will be back with us in no time.
Keep the faith and positive attitude.
We are all pulling for you and your family.
Just another fan!

There is a book titled "Getting Well Again" by Simonton & Simonton It is an excellent read. My stepfather was diagnosed with lung cancer at the age of 40 and was told that he was too far gone and no treatment was recommended, even cemotherapy. After insisting he fight it (he had to petition the Hospital Board even to allow him to get treatment!), he found this book which was an extremely valueable tool in helping him to beat the disease. He lived another 25 years.
I wish you all the best, and miss your familiar voice on the radio!!
Take care and Get Well Again!
And GO BEAVS!!!!
You and your family are in my prayers as you fight this cancer. I have enjoyed listening to your brand of sports coverage for many years on KEX and look forward to hearing you back on the air soon.
I realize this is not a fun time for you, so our prayers are with you.
Hope to hear you on KEX soon,

Know that many people are rooting for you!! We know you can beat this dreaded disease with all the new innovations taking place in the medical field and your will to fight.
You are in our prayers.
Sending positive energy your way in this difficult time.
Colon cancers are quite treatable and beatable these days, and that is our wish for you.
Stay optimistic, take it easy, and most of all, GET WELL!!!
I'm not a "sports person" per say (Only "Go BLAZERS") but I always listen to you and learn something on my way to work in the morning. You give me the sports fuel that I need to keep up with the guys at work! Take care of yourself and know that we're praying for you as well.
Thanks!

I can sympathize with you as I have Crohns Disease.
Everyone is praying for your recovering health.
The good news is they caught it! I know that it does not make you feel like jumping for joy, but soon you will be! I truely enjoy listening to your sports cast on 1190 KEX! I wish you a very speedy recovery and may God watch over you and your family. All the best!

Probably more than 13 years ago, a loyal listener averred, "Scott Linn is the best radio sports reporter!" I took it with a grain o' salt, but time has proved it so.
Thank you, Scotty, for the most recent accolades which I heard on one day - - three times - - for Vinnie Roberts of Aurora who reads with elementary/primary kids during his school day. 'Did not pick up on the name of the woman who "nominated" him, but she may not have known that Vinnie also represented his school, sponsored by Aurora American Legion Post #110, at Boys State in Eugene, last June.
My thoughts and prayers will be with you as you recuperate from your surgery and start your treatment plan. It will be great to hear you on the radio again soon.
Just give us the word...:-}
Hope you are on the road to a quick recovery and are able to get back to work...soon!!

Do you think that once you come back that Paul, Mark & Dave will you show a new kinder gentler attitiude towards you?
Yeh I didn't think so either.

Positive thoughts and prayers are being sent your way as you recuperate from your "surprise". I hope the well wishes of so many people bring a smile to your face, as you have brought a smile to all of us for so many years.
You are missed! We look forward to you returning as soon as you feel up to it - but concentrate on yourself and your healing right now. We'll all be here when you come back!
Best wishes to you and your family.

Our paths have crossed many times over the years with your support of youth programs and with our kids at school. I am but one of the many people that you have seen, listnened to, and helped (with a plug or two on the radio). I know that the Portland community will reach out to you in your time of need. Best wishes.
Take care and come back soon!
I have enjoyed your sportscasts for a long time as well as your point of view.
My dad had colon cancer in the worst possible way but.... he also survived 23 years and at age 85 his cause of death was unrelated! I know you will too as medicine has really improved over the years.
My prayers are with you,
David
Best wishes for a speedy recovery.
You don't know me but I feel like I know you! I'm so glad Mark and Dave let people know about your diagnosis. Take all the time to you need to focus on getting well, and know that many are praying for quick recovery for you! We'll wait for you to get back on the air!

Scotty....Hey, dude. I'm thinking of you and rooting for you. And when you return to the ol radio, I'll be listening. And I'll be sure to call for you for Strato draft advice. You think Willie Mays remembers us?
I too have followed you since your KGW days. The sports news and the daily antectdotes are just not the same. No offense Paul and gang........
The surgery is definitely not a picnic (1st hand experience) and you have much to deal with yet. BUT, you have a great attitude, and I know you will do just fine with all that the doctor's can hand you. Can't wait until you are back 'in the saddle'. Sports is JUST NOT THE SAME!

You are in my daily prayers each day. Sharing your illness with so many had to be hard, but the rewards will be worth it. There will be so many people joining hands together and praying for you . This will bring so much to you.
I am not a sports fan, so to say I have listened to you for years or that I know your work would be a falsehood. But I care as one person to another. Good luck.
You are in my prayers. May God bless you and heal your body quickly.
4 - 7 everyday !
I've missed hearing your take on the sports happenings the last few weeks. I kept hoping it was just a really long deserved vacation, but then Paul made the announcement.
Get well soon. You have a whole metro area sending positive thoughts and prayers! Can't wait for your next sports report.
I live in Sequim, Wa. Use to live in Portland and Vancouver and have been hooked on 1190 for many years. I get to pick you guys up during the dark and lonely hours of traveling better than I can get Seattle.
So know that way up here in Sequim you are missed and appreciated.
I pray for your recovery and hope for the best in your future.
Tom Sanford
Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers......
I have heard you many times on the radio and wish for you a speedy and complete recovery.
Thanks for sharing your experience with the listeners. It may help someone more than you know.
Scott you are in my prayers daily and I wish you a speady recovery.
Also, we really need you back doing the sports as Dave really isn't doing a very good job with the sports (just kidden). However you are my faviorte sportscaster, I have always looked forward to your reports and podcasts!
If Paul described your attitude correctly this morning, you are a long way on the road to beating this.
I'll get a bunch of Lutherans to add to your prayer team this Sunday.
Ken Dale
I will be praying for you along with another person in my family battling with the big C. I hate saying it. I don't listen to sports that much but I am excited about the first blazer game that we will be taking our 2 year old son to on the 19th. I will be thinking about you at the game. I wish you and your family hope and comfort in this time of need. And you will be in my prayers.
Keep up your spirit. Remember, positive thinking brings positive results.
I sure miss you in the mornings as I agetting ready, You are in my prayers. Just keep your positive attitude it is the best medicine that is available for all of us! Prayers for you. Ginny a loyal listener

Just remember to be couragous, keep your head up, and your heart open.
Richard
I have been praying for you and will continue praying for you. Colon cancer runs in my family and I'm scheduled for my first colonoscopy later this month. After hearing the news about you the other day on the radio made me scared, but I'm trying to be positive. Good luck to you!
Our Prayers and best wishes go out to you my man.

I was shocked to hear of your illness. My best wishes are with you.
I miss the way you present the sports on KEX and the friendly banter you and the guys have during the broadcasts.
Come back when you are strong enough to root on our local sports teams the way you always have.
Take care, I'm praying for you!
Be strong and know that we are lifting you up before the Lord.
Look forward to hearing from you again, soon;
Sports, in Portland, is nothing w/o Scott Lynn. WE NEED YOU BACK SOON.

Our hearts go with you.
Just when you think it's safe to go back to the hospital....
Glad that you caught it and got right on it, my grandmother had a very similar episode and pulled through it handily, I have no doubt that you will do the same. Keep keepin' on and I'm certain that we will see you back in action soon, you know that we are all keping you in our thoughts and prayers.

Laugh a lot... stay as positive as you can... and get well soon. I look forward to seeing you back at PGE Park this season.

To the best Sportscaster in the business - our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
I'm a cancer survivor and I made it through 6 rounds of chemo (really wasn't too bad).
Take time to heal. God Bless.
You're in my prayers and I know a lot of other people's too. The determination you're shown me thru the years is evident in your post. God's speed my friend!

Hurry back we all miss you!
Hope that all is going much better. My prayers are with you and your family at this time. Hope to hear you back on the radio soon. God Bless. Ella
I've just scrolled down the zillions of messages left on this website for ya, mate.... WOW!!! What a fanclub of extended friends and family you have! And what a compliment to you, my dear friend.
From the KiwiYanks here in New Zealand... your biggest fans who download your podcasts daily... pleez get well soon!
You've given us all a big "wake up call" in terms of getting ourselves checked out for whatever might be goin' wrong with the 'ol plumbing. I'm sure this has been a big shock to you, your gorgeous wife and your two amazing not-so-small children (aren't they lucky to have a doting dad like you!!! aside from sport, your kids are ALL you ever talk about!) Please know we keep all of you in our thoughts and prayers, halfway 'round the world.
You have been such an amazing friend to me, ever since our KGW days... thank you for your never-ending friendship from afar.
Love to you and your amazing family... look forward to seeing you in July when we all hope to return to Portland for an important family commemoration. The kids and I will make sure to call in and see y'all then! Take good care, big guy!
Much love,
Lizzy, Kenny, Chelsea, Beau & Keegan Thoresen
Scott,
Really sorry to hear about your illness, but I know you'll get through it and get back on the air where you belong. My cousin said he got your autograph several years ago and told me what a kind class act you were. We remember you most as the original host of the 5th quarter, as well as your televison broadcasts for the Beaver football, men's and women's basketball and hosting duties for the pre-game, halftime, and post-game shows for Beaver football on radio. I especially miss your work with the beavs, hopefully KEX can resecure the rights to those broadcasts so all of beaver nation can hear you there again.
Get well soon I know you can beat this.
You already knocked down a deep three to end the half...intercepted a mid-court pass and lobbed it to a team mate to end the 3rd quarter and now with the game on the line...the crowd chanting your name, you've come off two picks and await the pass deep in the corner to win the game (again) at the buzzer. I have no doubt you'll make it...reveling in the journey and bringing all of us along for the ride.
Scotty, you had the courage to bring an amateur to KGW back in 82...coached, guided and mentored me without an expectation of anything in return. For that and your friendship, I owe you a great deal, my friend.
I, along with thousands of others, are cheering for you every step of the way. You can count on our prayers.
Dave Sully
My prayers are with you. You have been a Portland institution over the years. I remember when you were with KGW. You always had an exuberance for sports and reporting it and it was definitely evident on screen.
I wish you all the best during your recovery and upcoming chemo sessions and I know you will fight this battle with all the gusto. I look forward to seeing you again on TV during a Duck or Beaver football game. Just know all of your long-time fans are pulling for you, praying for you and supporting you 100%.
Sincerely,
Mark Waldroop
I wanted to take a second to wish you a very speedy recovery and let you know that you are not alone in this battle. I am an American Cancer Society volunteer and want every man out there to please go get a colonoscopy! Also, support your local Relay for Life event... these events help fund cancer research, programs and centers here locally so that patients like Scott can get the best care possible!
Again, Scott... best wishes and a speedy recovery, we need you back on the air!
Charles Hajduk
I was sad to hear on the radio from Paul about your bout with cancer. I wondered where you went, I always hear you in the mornings when I wake up.
Hang in there and I am praying for your recovery. I had a friend with cancer last year and he is now in remission. I hope you will be too. Beaver updates won't be the same until you are back on air!
I leave my house just in time to be greeted by you and your sports reports at 6:40 a.m. every morning. I learn everything I need to know to impress my high school students with my sports knowledge...You are the Best!!! Please know that I am praying for your speedy recovery and return to the airwaves!
Oh, sheesh, Scott Lynn!! I've been wondering why you were away for so long and Mike & Mike sent their love to you during the Blazer/Detroit broadcast tonight - my first inclination that something wasn't right. You are so much loved by all of us listeners and so obviously adored and respected beyond belief by your peers. Love and prayers to you and yours, Scotty. You're going to come out on the other end of this a better man (if that's even possi ble). My husband and I lovva lovva lovva listening to you every morning and we can't wait to hear your voice again soon. You are the best.
Please heal quickly. You are the institution of Portland sports media. Plus we need you on the calls for OSU Beaver games. Take care and beat the cancer.
Best regards,
Dave
I join thousands who love and respect you and want you to hit this curve ball over the fence.
Todd in Vancouver.
Scott,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this time. I am a cancer survivor and I know for a fact that being positive and never thinking negatively is the way to go. I miss hearing you talk about the OSU Beavers on the radio. I hope you still wear your Beaver clothes to work.
God Bless you.
Mike & Virginia
God's best! Kim & Barb Spalding
Many years ago you responded to a group of letters my 5th graders at Menlo Park School wrote you regarding aspects of your job. You faithfully answered all letters, then put frosting on the cake by doing a promo for News8 sports, right in our classroom. I'm sure that those fifith graders share my feelings about you: that was special consideration we'll never forget.
I wish you a quick and speedy recovery, and will keep a candle lit for you until you're out of harm's way.
Warm regards,
Hal
you need to get back to the Sports Desk before Paul loses all the morning audience.
Hey Scott! Just wanted to let you know that I'm thinking the best for you and your family! You were one of the most fun persons in Radio to work with! I really enjoyed hanging out with you recently, nothing but laughs that night!
Best,
Alex Hart
I am so sorry to hear about your illness. I will pray for you every day for your speedy recovery. I am missing your voice and the reports. So, get well soon. cheers.

I am also a cancer pacient who happens to be a big fan of yours. I enjoy your work very much and hope that your back at it soon as we miss you. Please know that many people will come out to support you and they are really behind you. You are going to feel alone a lot and that is normal---might actually be a little bit of a nice change for you. Know that your not.....people are talking and praying for you all over the place. I try to keep a lot of laughing as a part of what i do to treat my cancer. Laughter is the best thing you can do. I will be thinking of you and praying for you. keep you head high and laugh every day
We all miss your positive, upbeat voice on the air & wish you a very speedy & full recovery. Each person reacts differently; your very positive outlook will serve you well.
Please let the guys call you every once in a while & let us hear your voice.
Scott,
We are thinking of you and sending our best wishes for a full and speedy recovery. You are such a part of our KEX team...you will be missed in your time away, but please take care of yourself!

Your sportscasts and interactions with your fellow professionals have always made me smile - you just sound so upbeat and postive! Your great attitude along with the prayers of your friends and listeners will speed your recovery.
Here's to a speedy recovery! Please know we are all thinking of you as you head through this new adventure.
And who is going to tell Paul Linnman what to do while you are gone!!

Scott,
You are in my thoughts and prayers bro.....get yourself healthy and we will look forward to seeing you soon.......
All my best Scott!!
Spiegs.
Dear Scott,
Hang in there. It will be rough for a while but you will make it. Stay posative.
My very best wishes and prayers are with you.
Dorothy
God Bless.
Scott...I will always remember meeting you at some sports luncheon we both attended back in the early 80's shortly after I became "Voice of the Winter Hawks" and you were hired at Channel 8. You are a true pro - congratulations on a terrific career - and your sports updates on KEX will be missed while you recover. No one gets more good info per second, more clearly, than you. You are the best!
I just had my first colonoscopy and had no idea you can get a clear bill of health and have a problem two years later until Paul did his interview this AM at 8:53. I know you will whip this thing. You're tough! You will be in my prayers daily.
Take this time to take care of yourself. I'll miss you on the radio, and keeping book at your son's games. My dad had this and beat it, you will too. I still have that set of 83 Topps! You'll be in our prayers.
Jim Culp
Scott:
I will pray for you daily. Know that you are in God's hands and trust in Him.
Janis Bowlby
Hang in there. Look forward to seeing you back at sporting events after the chemo and hearing you on the radio.
Jeff, former KPTV sports shooter.
We know that you are experiencing something you had hoped would never happen. Keep your positive thoughts and we will keep our prayers going for you and for your family. You live in a great age where there are many options in care and you will receive the best of care. It is not pleasant to go through but your courage will pull you through. Our prayers are for your wife who will walk beside you on this journey. May you both be strengthened.
I have a friend who, in his late teens sustained burns to more than 90% of his body that left him blind and with amputations to his arms and legs. But God has given him a wife and children and - most amazingly - he's had not one day of depression through all of this!
That's my prayer for you, Scott. I pray that God makes Himself very real to you, your family & friends and carries you all through the hardest of times and nudges you to keep your chin up when you find it nearly impossible to do so.
Some words from a song that I have found helpful:
When I think I'm going under, part the waters, Lord
When I feel the waves around me, calm the sea
When I cry for help, oh, hear me Lord and hold out your hand.
Touch my life, still the raging storm in me.
Scott,
You are missed more than you know, you are in our prayers for a speedy recoverey. Get Well Soon
So sorry to hear of your illness. I wish you a quick and pain-free recovery!! Sports will not be the same on KEX until you return.
Wishing you the best as you take time to recover and attack this thing. We'll miss you while your gone, but know you will be working as hard on this as you do everyday for your listeners.
I'm writing this from my desk at Fox News Radio... just a few feet away from Tony Snow's old studio.
My first day at Fox was his first day back from the original radical surgery he underwent in 2005.
Watching Tony's courage woke me up and got me to the colonoscopy clinic!
Here's hoping for a good bounce-back. At least hair won't be an issue!
Get well soon, and get back to whatever nosebleed section the Blazers have banished the press to these days.
RJ
Best wishes for a full recovery that will put you "back in "the saddle" at full strength real soon.
Having been through some of this, you will be just fine,....:)

Ex-KGW'er from the Good Old Days (right, Wayne?) :) :)
Scott.... Sending good thoughts your way! Hang in there, we're all rooting for you here at your old stomping grounds at KGW.
Best,
Matt Zaffino
I just heard of your latest "adventure" in the hospital. My best wishes for a speedy recovery from surgery and the follow-up treatments so you get back to good health and return to your fans on the air.
I like to brag that Scott Lynn taught me much about the broadcast business when you mentored me so many years ago at KGW. It was solid advice to "follow your dreams" and 28 years later, I appreciate it more than ever.
Follow Doctor's orders and get well soon so we can enjoy your reports!
Grant McOmie
You WILL make it through this! My husband and I are thinking about you and hoping your treatment blasts this cancer for good. As a cancer survivor, I understand the shock and emotional pain. Take it one day at a time and know you are respected and loved by many, many people who've been there.

You, Joe, and Carl have always been part of some of the greatest memories I had when I started shooting sports for you at kgw. You are an awsome on the air and it was a sad day when you left the newsroom. Times have certainly changed in the TV sports biz but one thing remains the same....there will only be one Scott Lynn and I know that your strength as a sports journaslist will help you make it through this battle with cancer. Hang in there .....and don't forget the great times we had back in the corner sports office with Carl, Joe, and Jim Little!!!....you will beat this!!!!!!........Jake
I wanted to drop you a note and wish you a speedy and full recovery...you are in our thoughts over here at the big eightski.
Take care,
Chris Pausz
I'm sorry to hear about your illness. I hope and pray you experience a quick recovery. You are one of the best. I grew up watching your sportscasts on Channel 8.
I had the privilge to work with you briefly at KEX in spring 1994. I enjoyed the behind-the-scenes look at radio and you certainly were part of that experience.
I look forward to seeing you back on CSN and on KEX soon.
Best,
Jason
From a two-year survivor of stage one colon cancer, to a soon-to-be full-fledged survivor of colon cancer, my prayers and best wishes for a speedy and full recovery are headed your way.
I was able to return to work three weeks after surgery, moved halfway across the country four weeks after surgery, then another week after that, I started travelling around the midwest via bus with the hockey team I was broadcasting for.
Scott, you can do this. And by all means, tell everyone you can about it. The more we can tell people that colon cancer is a treatable/curable disease, the number of people who are saved will increase.
Keep us posted please.

I'm praying for a speedy recovery!
I know exactly what you are going through and my prayers are with you.
I was diagnosed with colorectol cancer that had metastized to my liver, February 2006. I went through 19 months of treatment, with three major surgeries and three series of chemo before, between and after my surgeries. The period of chemo/radiation was the worst. I had an illeostomy for 6 weeks after my first surgery, the second surgery reversed that. the third surgery was to take the leisons off of my liver.
Keep positive and set goals to look forward to. I made sure that I went to at least part of my church service each week, just so that I could get out and socialize, even though I would feel horrible.
It was only through the support and prayers of family and friends that I got through it and am cancer free today.
You can do it!!!! God will see you through it.
"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me".
I am praying for you and your family. I wish you a fast recovery and can not wait to hear you back on the air. Do what the Doctors say!!
Boy, the rest of them are trying to fill in for you but sportscasting just isn't happenin' like yours. (shhhh, don't tell 'em I said this) Get well soon!!
Keep the faith. You are in my prayers. Life is always full of surprises. Know that this did not catch God by surprise; maybe it caught you but not Him. He is the great Physician. With good doctors, peoples prayers and you minding the rules you will be up and around soon. Meanwhile, take advantage of the attention while you get it; it will soon be over and "no one will feel sorry for you any more and you won't have any excuses."
Blessings, (just a faithful listener)
Leta
I hope you get feeling better soon. You and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers. I will also add you to our prayer chain at church. Lori
We are all pulling for you and will send out thoughts and prayers and happiness to help get you back as fast as possible!!!

Chemo is not fun but it sounds like they got to it early and that's a good thing.

Bringing more awareness about colon cancer can be your purpose during this time.
Good luck and prayers for you are pouring in.
We'll be praying for your speedy recovery.
Sincerely, Loyal KEX Morning Update Listeners.
I am really sorry to hear about your illness. I am praying for a speedy recovery.
Blessings!
I was shocked to hear of your "vacation" this morning from Paul. I've known you through KEX for years and have total respect for your work. You've always struck me as a positive and genuinely nice guy. I'm a dentist in Salem and see examples of dental and medical patients and their healing every day. One of my favorite quotes is by Seneca, a philospher and healer from BC times. He said "Patients tend to move along the paths of their expectations". From what I know of you and your attitude, you'll be just fine!
Take good care of yourself and lots of us will be sending you positive thoughts, prayer, whatever you want to call it.
Bruce
Scott, good for you! For taking care of business and not delaying
your surgery for colon cancer..I wish you all the best and my
prayers are with you as proceed through the kemo series. Being
tired is normal, So expect it as you travel through your recovery.
I lost my husband 18 years ago, because he didn't do anything
until it was too late. And he didn't let anyone of his family know
that he was having problems. The first I knew of it, was when I
took him to emergency and he needed a blood transfusion of 6
pts of blood, before they could even examine him. We had only
been married 3 years, so I didn't have alot of clout. But I sure
do now. Thats why I say to you Congratulations you will be a
cancer survivor. all the best....Sally
I have been a KEX fan since the Barney Keep days and I miss your broadcast.
I am wishing and praying for your speedy recovery and peace for your family.
Thanks for all you do.
Miss your sports broadcasts, you are the best. Praying for your speedy recovery.
God bless you,
Mark
