DAKOTA MEYER became the first living Marine to receive the Medal of Honor since the Vietnam War. He rushed into enemy fire not once, but five times, to save his comrades. He is a remarkable hero, but don't tell him that. Meyer told Paul Linnman that the Medal of Honor is a "curse," saying, "If this is what it feels like to be a hero, you can have it."
Dakota Meyer has written about that event, as well as his experience in Afghanistan, in “Into the Fire: A Firsthand Account of the Most Extraordinary Battle in the Afghan War.”
