Tanker Crashes On HWY 126E

Tuesday around 6:40 a.m., troopers from the Oregon State Police Springfield Office responded to a report of a single commercial motor vehicle rollover on Highway 126E near milepost 21 which is near Greenwood Drive.

Preliminary investigation revealed a 2007 Kenworth Fuel Tanker with trailer was traveling eastbound when the vehicle drifted off the shoulder of the roadway and rolled. The vehicle came to rest up against some small trees.

The driver of the Kenworth, Robert Reynolds, age 31 of Hines, sustained moderate injuries in the crash and was transported by ground ambulance to Riverbend Hospital in Springfield.

The fuel tanker and trailer were both breached as a result of the rollover and were actively leaking at the scene. Eugene/Springfield HazMat responded to contain the spill. The roadway is expected to be closed in both directions for most of the day. Detours are in place. Motorists are asked to visit Tripcheck.com for traffic updates.

The crash is being investigated by Troopers from the Springfield Patrol Office.
